Protests to cost Hong Kong's aviation industry nearly $80 million

Hong Kong's aviation industry is expected to suffer more than $600 million Hong Kong ($76 million) in losses due to massive flight cancellations on Aug. 12 and Aug. 13 amid escalating protests, Yahoo News reported. Around 180 flights were cancelled on Aug. 12, and more than 400 on Aug. 13. An official said that the long-term damage to the industry would be immeasurable as Hong Kong's reputation as an aviation hub has been put at risk.
