Swiss Re to gain West Africa foothold

Swiss Re Ltd. has received approval from the Inter-African Conference on Insurance Markets to open a subscription office in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, Intellivoire reports. Awa Kone, current director of Swiss Re for West Africa, will head the office, which is expected to become fully operational by Oct. 1. The new office will help Swiss Re expand its services in the region, including key reinsurance solutions and transactional opportunities.
