Rate hikes allow reinsurers to increase cat exposure: S&P

U.S.-based S&P Global Ratings Inc. said that higher premiums rates are driving global reinsurers to increase their exposure to catastrophe risks while retrocession buying remains relatively flat, Artemis.bm reported. The ratings agency said that catastrophe losses dented the insurance-linked securities market's capacity at recent renewals, providing opportunities for some traditional reinsurers.
