BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

New Orleans Saints preseason kicks off with deposition, appeal

The latest play in Who Dat Nation versus the National Football League, whose referee failed to call foul over an interference in game against the Rams last year that bitter Saints fans say cost their team a run at the Super Bowl, is an advancing lawsuit with damages set so low that it’s staying in the Louisiana courts.

The suit filed by a New Orleans attorney is the only one proceeding — all others, seeking higher damages or other expensive awards such as a replay of the game, were moved to the federal courts and have since been dismissed, according to an article that posted Thursday on Nola.com. The lawyer revealed to reporters that the low damages in his fraud case was a strategy to keep the suit going and that he intends to donate the money to Team Gleason, a charity created by former Saints star Steve Gleason, who suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.

The latest? A Louisiana judge earlier this month ordered that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and three officials from January’s NFC title game be questioned under oath in September after the infamous “no-call,” according to the article.

The NFL fought back this week with an appeal filed to the Louisiana Supreme Court, arguing that the suit would open up the NFL to “time-intensive legal proceedings and could mire the legal system ‘in disputes that it lacks the time or expertise to resolve,’” Nola.com reported.
