Brit Insurance's premiums rise 6.5%, acquisitions drive growth

U.K.-based Brit Insurance Holdings Ltd.'s gross written premiums grew 6.5% year over year to $1.2 billion in the first half of this year driven by acquisitions and expansion of international distribution capability, Asia Insurance Review reported. The insurer purchased a stake in Canada-based managing general underwriter Sutton Special Risk Inc. and acquired U.S.-based Ambridge Partners L.L.C.
