Myanmar approves JVs between local, foreign insurers

Myanmar's Ministry of Finance and Planning has approved six joint ventures including three nonlife ventures among local and foreign insurers after liberalizing the insurance sector recently, The Myanmar Times reported. The ministry has allowed joint ventures between AYA Myanmar General Insurance Co. Ltd. and Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance Inc. as well as Grand Guardian General Insurance Co. Ltd. and Tokio Marine Nichido Fire Insurance Co. Ltd. among others.
