Ditching pesticides could cause $7 billion worth of crop losses

A report from the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research said that the country could lose more than $11 billion New Zealand ($7.3 billion) worth of commercial crops if farmers stop using pesticides, ODT.co.nz reports. Vegetable growers would lose NZD 1.2 billion per year, pasture industry NZD 3.4 billion, horticulture NZD 3.8 billion, and forestry industry would lose as much as NZD 1.7 billion annually.
