Everest Re's profit surges

Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Everest Re Group Ltd.'s net income grew 390% year over year to nearly $343 million in the second quarter driven by strong property catastrophe renewals, The Royal Gazette reported. Gross written premiums increased by 5% to $2.2 billion.
