BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Katy Perry

A Los Angeles jury found that Katy Perry unlawfully copied from a 2009 Christian rap song in creating her 2013 Billboard charting song “Dark Horse,” Time magazine reported Monday.

The “I Kissed a Girl” singer had been accused by three Christian songwriters of copying notes and beats from its song “Joyful Noise,” released under the name stage name Flame. The jury found that the instrumental line and beat was substantially similar to the holy hip-hop song, though Ms. Perry’s musical expert said the patterns in dispute were as simple as “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” the magazine reported.

Ms. Perry, as well as the lyric writer, the rap contributor, Capitol Records and the song’s producers, were all found liable by the jury, said the news report.

The case, which “The One That Got Away” singer may choose to forget, now goes to the penalty phase to determine how much Ms. Perry and the others owe the Christian rappers.
