Oil spill forces Indonesian energy firm to declare emergency

Indonesian oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) has declared an emergency after an oil spill at its offshore facility in North West Java on July 12, Reuters reported citing sources. Pertamina said that it will take an estimated 10 weeks to plug the leak. The oil spill has reached coastal villages in the Karawang area in West Java, about 2 kilometers from the facility.
