Piracy-related incidents rise 60% in Singapore Straits

Masafumi Kuroki, executive director of the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia, said that piracy-related incidents increased 60% year-over-year to eight in the first half in the Singapore Straits, Hellenic Shipping News reported. All incidents took place in the westbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme.
