Floods cause $2 billion in damage

A flood inundated the Golain valley in Pakistan's Chitral region on July 7, causing nearly 330 billion Pakistani rupees ($2 billion) worth of damage to infrastructure and property, Dawn reported. The flood occurred after a glacial lake burst its banks, destroying several bridges, roads, the Golain Gol hydroelectric station and at least eight water projects in the region.
