A water shortage in the Sitakonda industrial hub in the city of Chattogram in Bangladesh has forced 350 factories to slow or halt production, The Daily Star reported. Mahbubul Alam, president of Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that water scarcity has disrupted the production of liquefied petroleum gas, steel, cement and apparel for more than three years. The factories in Sitakonda produce about 60% of steel in Bangladesh.
