Aon names general counsel to replace retiring Lieb

Aon PLC said Wednesday it has appointed Darren Zeidel as executive vice president, general counsel and company secretary.

Chicago-based Mr. Zeidel succeeds Peter Lieb, who announced his retirement last month, Aon said.

Mr. Zeidel’s appointment was approved by the board of directors effective July 12, Aon said in a statement.

As general counsel, Mr. Zeidel will lead the firm's global law department and manage legal, compliance, regulatory and public affairs, the brokerage said in a statement.

Mr. Zeidel, who joined Aon in 2012, most recently served as deputy general counsel and has held various senior legal roles in the firm, the statement said.

Prior to joining Aon, Mr. Zeidel worked at Honeywell International Inc., where he held several business segment general counsel roles at the firm, the statement said.

Mr. Zeidel began his legal career as an associate in the mergers and acquisitions group in the New York office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
