At least 60% of high-rises at quake risk: Official

An Indian official said that at least 60% of high-rise buildings in the New Dehli capital region are not earthquake-resistant and could collapse or suffer severe damage if a temblor strikes Delhi, The Times of India reported. Abhay Kumar Shrivastava, head of disaster management at Haryana Institute of Public Administration, called on real estate developers to follow mandatory parameters and use shock absorbers to construct quake-resistant buildings.
