Insurers set up shop in disaster-prone region in Australia

Australian-based Sure Insurance Pty Ltd. will start writing property insurance in north Queensland, which is prone to cyclones and floods and where insurance premiums and losses are high, Asia Insurance Review reported. Bradley Heath, chief executive of Sure Insurance, said that the new venture with U.S.-based insurer Liberty Mutual Group Inc. is looking to expand its operations in the region.
