Sompo International Holdings Ltd. announced Wednesday that Jack Kuhn has stepped down as head of its commercial insurance unit and that three co-leaders were named to replace him.

The Bermuda-based insurer said in a statement that the unit, which reported nearly $4 billion in 2018 gross written premium, will be led by Sompo International executives Michael Chang, Graham Evans and Christopher Sparro who, along with Stephen Young, the CEO of Sompo International’s reinsurance business, will report to Christopher Gallagher, CEO of Sompo International’s commercial property/casualty business.

Mr. Kuhn joined Sompo International’s predecessor company, Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd., in 2012 from Axis Capital Holdings Ltd. Last year, he took on the additional role of chief underwriting officer.

A spokeswoman for Sompo International did not immediately return calls seeking more information on Mr. Kuhn’s departure.

Mr. Gallagher, who joined Sompo International from Axis in 2015, was named to his current role in April.

Mr. Chang has been CEO of Sompo Global Risk Solutions since 2016, Mr. Sparro has been CEO of U.S. Insurance since 2016 and Mr. Evans has been CEO of Sompo International’s London market and Europe insurance unit since 2013.
