Brazil orders miner to pay damages for dam burst

A Brazilian judge has ordered miner Vale S.A. to pay damages related to a Jan 25. dam burst that killed at least 240 people, Reuters reported. Elton Pupo Nogueira, judge at the Minas Gerais court, said that the compensation will include damage related to the environment and economic activity in the region. The company's nearly $3-billion of frozen assets will remain blocked, he added.
