Smart cars threaten to disrupt automotive supply chains

An official said that a transition to smart cars is expected to disrupt automotive supply chains across the world and drive consolidation among suppliers, Automotive Logistics reported. Mark Sutcliffe, global vice president of supply chain management at the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, said that vehicle supply chains dominated by metal, plastic and wiring components are shifting focus to software and hardware technologies.
