Lack of retrocession capacity could hit small reinsurers

U.S.-based reinsurance broker Willis Re Inc., said that the insurance-linked securities sector' pull-back from retrocession and collateralized reinsurance during recent renewals is likely to hamper the business model of small and medium-sized reinsurers, Artemis.bm reports. Retrocession rates increased up to 35% for loss affected accounts at the June and July renewals, Willis Re added.
