CNA names general counsel

CNA Financial Corp. on Monday said it has named Jose Ramon Gonzalez executive vice president and general counsel.

Mr. Gonzalez will serve as principal counsel for CNA and will report to Dino E. Robusto, chairman and CEO of CNA, the insurer said Monday in a statement.

He succeeds Scott Weber, who departed to pursue other opportunities so he could be closer to his family, a CNA spokesperson said.

Prior to joining CNA, Mr. Gonzalez served as chief legal officer for QBE North America, the statement said.

“Jose has an impressive and expansive background in insurance law with more than two decades of in-house and private practice experience for a diverse set of global organizations,” Mr. Robusto said in the statement.

He will be based in Chicago, according to the spokesperson.
