Blackboard appoints head of growth, underwriting

Blackboard Insurance Co., a unit of American International Group Inc., on Wednesday said former CNA Financial Corp. executive John Mizzi will join the firm July 8 as head of growth and underwriting.

AIG said Mr. Mizzi will join Blackboard as it expands its use of data, analytics and technology to serve insureds and brokers in the middle market.

Mr. Mizzi has led commercial field operations at CNA since 2016, according to the statement.

He succeeds Ed Pulkstenis, who will assume the newly created role at Blackboard of head of machine augmented solutions, according to the statement.
