Insurers refuse to cover surveyors over claddings risk

The Australian Institute of Building Surveyors said that the insurance industry’s unwillingness to offer indemnity coverage to surveyors could force construction projects across the country to grind to a halt, The Age reported. Insurers are concerned about flammable claddings-related risk. Daniel Andrews, premier of the state of Victoria, called on the government to step in to head off shutdowns in the construction industry.
