Copper producer takes $200-million hit after plant shutdown

Anil Agarwal, chairman of miner India-based Vedanta Ltd., said that a shutdown at its copper smelter plant in the state of Tamil Nadu has cost the company $200 million in lost profits, Business Line reported. The government of Tamil Nadu ordered a permanent shutdown of the plant after police fired on protesters and killed 13 people on May 22, 2018.
