Foreign insurers line up to enter Myanmar

A total of 14 foreign insurers including five general insurers will enter Myanmar's insurance market by the end of this year through either wholly-owned subsidiaries or joint ventures with local partners, Nikkei Asian Review reported. Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance Inc. plans to sell agriculture insurance to cover droughts and floods in Myanmar by using satellite imagery to determine the extent of the damage.
