Cargo thefts increase, cost businesses nearly $5 billion per year

Mexico's freight transport association said that cargo thefts cost businesses $4.8 billion per year after the number of thefts increased 6% year over year to 4,130 crimes in the first four months of the year, FreightWaves reported. The National Chamber of Freight Transport said that 75% of all crimes against shippers occur in the Mexican states of Puebla, Michoacan, Mexico state and Tlaxcala.
