Firms likely to face bigger fines under GDPR

Experts said that European firms are likely to face larger fines under the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation as regulators get through the backlog of reported incidents and conclude investigations, TechTarget reported. A report by DLA Piper found that regulators imposed 91 fines while personal data breach notifications totaled more than 59,000 in the first eight months since the implementation of GDPR in May 2018.
