Cyclone Fani causes nearly $2 billion in losses

Indian officials said that cyclone Fani is likely to have caused nearly 130 billion Indian rupees ($1.9 billion) in losses in the state of Odisha, The Times of India reported. The cyclone, which struck the eastern coast of India May 3, destroyed more than 500,000 homes, causing INR 50 billion worth of damage and wrecked power infrastructure causing INR 12 billion worth of damage in the state.
