European firms lax about data encryption despite GDPR

Research found that only 27% of European businesses used encryption for emails to mitigate cyber risk despite the introduction of the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation, Computer Weekly reported. The research by France-based security firm Thales S.A. and U.S.-based IDC Research Inc. found that the companies could reduce risk of cyber attacks and regulatory fines through encryption of all data located on personal computers, internet of things applications and big data environments.
