Quake-related damage forces Peru to declare emergency

Peru has declared a state of emergency in 14 additional districts in Loreto, Cajamarca, and San Martin regions after an 8.0-magnitude earthquake struck the country on May 26, Andina reported. The National Institute of Civil Defense and the Peru National Emergency Operations Center said that regional response actions are insufficient to cover damage related to properties, infrastructure and basic services.
