Stoppages at gold mine hits Newmont Goldcorp's revenue

Francisco Quiroga, Mexico's deputy economy minister, said that ongoing production halts at U.S.-based Newmont Goldcorp Corp.'s Penasquito gold mine in Zacatecas are costing the company and the government "millions" of Mexican pesos every day, Reuters reported. Truck drivers and protestors have blocked access to the mine since March 27 for alleged water supply disruption, forcing Newmont Goldcorp to suspend production at the end of April.
