Japanese nonlife insurers' disaster tab totals $15 billion

Japanese nonlife insurers – MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings Inc., Tokio Marine Holdings Inc. and Sompo Holdings Inc. – have paid out $15 billion for natural disasters in the financial year ended March 31, NHK reported. MS&AD Insurance's net profit grew more than 25% year over year while Sompo's profit increased nearly 5% driven by strong results from overseas operations.
