Fairfax CFO David Bonham dies

Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. said Tuesday its vice president and chief financial officer, David Bonham, died suddenly this past weekend.

“Dave was incredibly bright and disciplined as our CFO, and we will all miss his sense of humor, quick wit and caring nature,” Prem Watsa, chairman and CEO of Toronto-based Fairfax, said in a statement.

Fairfax has named John Varnell, vice president, corporate development, as interim CFO.

 A spokesman could not immediately be reached as to Mr. Bonham’s age and cause of death.

Fairfax entities include Allied World Assurance Co. Holdings GmbH, Brit PLC, Crum & Forster, Northbridge Financial Corp., Odyssey Group and Zenith National Insurance Corp.
