Generali's net profit rises nearly 30% in first quarter

Italian insurer Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A.'s net profit increased 28% year-over-year to €744 million ($833 million) in the first quarter, Market Watch reported. Operating profit grew nearly 7%, boosted by the property/casualty segment. Gross written premiums rose 6.6% to nearly €19 billion.
