Google faces stiff fines in IndiaPosted On: May. 14, 2019 5:44 AM CST
U.S.-based technology firm Google L.L.C. could be fined millions of dollars for violating antitrust regulations in India, Business Insider reports citing Reuters. The Competition Commission of India is investigating the company to determine whether it has been blocking rivals from its mobile operating system Android. This is the second time that Google has been accused of violating antitrust regulations in India. In February 2018, the CCI ruled that Google had a search bias which favored its own businesses, and imposed a fine of 1.36 billion Indian rupees ($19.3 million).
