Insurance claims for cyclone Fani estimated at $500 million

An Indian general insurer said that cyclone Fani is likely to have caused nearly 35 billion Indian rupees ($500 million) in insured losses in the country, Business Standard reported. The cyclone damaged crops, properties and vehicles in the Indian states of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. The storm caused widespread damage in the cities of Bhubaneshwar and Puri in Odisha.
