Mount Sinabung erupts, flight risk alert issued

The Mount Sinabung volcano erupted in North Sumatra on May 7, forcing authorities to issue an alert over potential flight risks and evacuate thousands of people from nearby villages, Business Standard reported. The Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management said that the volcano spewed a dark ash cloud about 2,000 meters above the crater and caused ash showers in the region.
