Beazley appoints global head of property

London-based specialist insurer Beazley PLC on Wednesday said it has appointed longtime industry executive Richard Montminy as global head of the company’s property division, effective May 20.

Mr. Montminy, based in New York, joins Beazley from Zurich North America where he was most recently head of property for the U.S. commercial insurance operation and brings more than 30 years of experience in senior underwriting and broking roles, Beazley said in a statement.

Mr. Montminy succeeds Mark Bernacki, who stepped down from the position at the end of April after 13 years at Beazley, the statement said.

In his new role, Mr. Montminy will develop Beazley’s global property strategy and lead teams in the United States, the United Kingdom including Lloyd’s, and Singapore, the company said in the statement.

He will report to Chief Underwriting Officer Adrian Cox and join Beazley’s executive committee, according to the statement.
