SkyWatch.AI, a risk-assessment and insurtech platform for the drone industry, on Thursday said it is partnering with nine U.S. aviation brokers to provide drone insurance on a monthly subscription basis from a dedicated web portal.

The service will allow drone pilots to purchase SkyWatch.AI’s liability and hull insurance through their broker’s web portal, Palo Alto, California-based SkyWatch said in a statement. Policies are underwritten by Starr Insurance Cos.

Pilots can purchase and manage their insurance directly from SkyWatch Web without downloading SkyWatch.AI’s mobile app and access the same prices and insurance discounts based on their Safety Score, as well as other underwriting factors, the statement said.

Pilots who already use the mobile app will have their accounts fully synchronized between the SkyWatch.AI mobile app and the web portal, the statement said.

The first nine brokers to enroll in the SkyWatch Web program are: Aviation Marine Insurance Services Inc., Falcon Insurance Agency Inc., Fields Group, Harpenau Insurance Agency LLC, Hill & Usher LLC (Aerial Pak), MFE Insurance Brokerage (InsureMyDrone), Plimsoll Specialty Markets LLC, Scott Sky Smith Insurance Agency and Skyvuze Technologies LLC.

“After serving thousands of drone pilots with the SkyWatch.AI mobile app, we saw the demand to expand our solution to include even more drone pilots, including those who would like to continue working with their existing brokers,” Tomer Kashi, CEO of SkyWatch.AI, said in the statement.

“This new platform allows qualifying commercial operators to obtain coverage within minutes 24/7,” said Jim Anderson, senior vice president with Starr Aviation.
