Reinsurers cede more risk to capital markets for catastrophes

U.K.-based Aon P.L.C. said that global reinsurers' share of catastrophe losses totaled only $32 billion out of $220 billion in 2017 and 2018 thanks to increased cessions of premiums to capital markets and insurance-linked securities' funds, Artemis.bm reports. Aon said that the reinsured portion accounted for 30% of total losses across the two years.
