Truck drivers protest against 40% hike in insurance ratesPosted On: May. 2, 2019 6:45 AM CST
More than 200 Canadian truck drivers staged a protest on May 1 against a 40% increase in commercial trucking insurance rates in Ontario over the past two years, 680News reported citing sources. A trucking insurance broker said that insurers are no longer renewing the policies of mediocre drivers due to a rise in the number of accidents. Good drivers are likely to pay $12,000 Canada ($8,927) this year after the rate hike, up from CAD 10,000 in 2018.
