Texas lawmakers introduced legislation to clarify the eligibility of certain physicians to provide and receive remuneration for workers compensation health care services.

H.B. 733, introduced Wednesday by Rep. Bill Zedler, R-Arlington, amends the state’s labor code, forbidding physicians from providing care to injured workers or receive payment for care if, before Sept. 1, 2007, they were removed or suspended from or not admitted to the list of approved doctors by the Texas Workers Compensation commission, or had a suspended license, and has not been reinstated to the workers compensation system.

The legislation, if passed, would take effect Sept. 1, 2019.
