Activists call on insurers to stop insuring coal projects

Activists supporting the Unfriend Coal campaign have called on CEOs of insurers from Asia and North America to stop insuring coal and tar sands projects and companies, World Coal reported. The campaign's activists plan to increase pressure on insurers including Ping An Insurance (Group) Co. of China Ltd., South Korea-based Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance Co. Ltd. and Japan-based MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings Inc. among others.
