Competition, operating costs likely to hamper insurers' growth

U.S.-based S&P Global Ratings Inc. said that increasing competition, higher operating costs and stricter regulations could hamper insurers' growth in the Gulf Cooperation Council this year, Gulf News reported. Infrastructure spending in Abu Dhabi and Expo 2020 in Dubai is likely to drive insurers' growth in the United Arab Emirates, the ratings agency added.
