Insurers calls for fines against shippers over marine cover

Kenya-based insurer Kenindia Assurance Co. has called on the Kenya Revenue Authority to impose stiff penalties on importers for violating a mandatory insurance law requiring shippers to buy marine cover locally, Business Daily reported. Henry Rotich, the country's treasury secretary in 2017 directed all importers to use local marine insurance for goods.
