Kenya Re's ex-director convicted for failure to pay fine
Posted On: Apr. 24, 2019 6:07 AM CSTA Kenyan court has extended the imprisonment of Johnson Jackson Githaka, former managing director of Kenya Reinsurance Corp. Ltd., after he failed to pay a 15 million Kenyan shillings ($147,710) fine for alleged corruption, Business Daily reported. The court convicted Mr. Githaka for allegedly receiving a KES 7.3 million kickback. The court found that Mr. Githaka fraudulently obtained the money paid by United Insurance Co. Ltd. to Kenya Re as an illegal commission related to a property sale.
