Oil spill forces Petrobras to suspend production at Albacora

Brazil-based Petroleo Brasileiro S.A.-Petrobras said that a second oil spill occurred on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro on April 22, forcing the company to halt production at its platform in Albacora, The Rio Times reported. Petrobras said that about 941 liters of oil leaked from a pipeline in the northern region of the Campos Basin. The first leak occurred at the beginning of April and polluted five beaches along the coast of Rio de Janeiro in the Buzios, Arraial do Cabo and Cabo Frio regions.
