Cannabidiol hamburger

The list of available products featuring marijuana plant’s cannabidiol component just got juicier. And perhaps flame-broiled.

Carl’s Jr. Restaurants LLC said it is testing out a cannabis burger, “Rocky Mountain High: Cheeseburger Delight,” CNN Wire reported Wednesday. The cannabidiol burger will be introduced Saturday at its Denver location and features a sauce infused with the nonpsychoactive hemp derivative known as CBD.

The Los Angeles-based burger chain is using the test to determine whether a CBD burger belongs on its permanent menu, a Carl’s Jr. spokeswoman told CNN. “It is something that feels right for the brand,” she said. “We are all about innovation.”

And while limited studies hint that CBD can help treat inflammation, pain, anxiety and seizures, Carl’s Jr.’s representative said it isn’t promoting any possible functional benefits of CBD, according to the report.
