Capital to be abundant at renewals, unlikely to hit reinsurance rates

U.S.-based Keefe, Bruyette and Woods Inc. said that reinsurance capacity is expected to be in abundance at the upcoming mid-year renewals and that excess capital is unlikely to drag down rates, Artemis.bm reports. Analysts at the investment bank said that availability of trapped capital from existing insurance-linked securities' contracts is likely to boost capacity at the renewals.
