Egyptian insurer's premiums total $319 million

Egypt-based Misr Insurance Co.'s premiums totaled 5.5 billion Egyptian pounds ($319 million) in the first half of the financial year ending June 30, Amwal Al Ghad reported. Direct premiums accounted for 84% or EGP 4.7 billion while reinsurance premiums totaled EGP 873 million. The insurers settled about EGP 2.5 million worth of claims.
